How information is collected, used, protected, and retained by Specialized Accounting LLC.
Last updated: September 2026. This policy applies to specialized.tax and to the information Specialized Accounting LLC collects through it.
Who We Are
Specialized Accounting LLC is an accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and tax practice located at 5641 Hwy 53, Harvest, AL 35749. Throughout this policy, “Specialized Accounting,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Specialized Accounting LLC. “You” refers to any person who visits this website, submits a form, books a consultation, or otherwise contacts us through it.
We can be reached by phone at (256) 369-9990 or by email at shumphrey@specialized.tax with any question about this policy or about information we hold.
Information We Collect
Information You Give Us Directly
When you complete the contact form, request a consultation, or send an email, we collect what you choose to provide. That typically includes your name, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, your preferred method of contact, how you found us, and whatever you write in the message field. If you book an appointment through the scheduling tool on this site, the scheduling provider collects the details needed to reserve the time, such as your name, contact information, and the reason for the meeting.
Please do not send Social Security numbers, taxpayer identification numbers, bank account numbers, or copies of tax documents through the website contact form or by ordinary email. Once an engagement begins, we will tell you how to transmit sensitive documents securely.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, this site records limited technical information when you visit. That may include your IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, the pages you view, the time and date of your visit, the page or search that referred you, and how you move through the site. This information is collected in aggregate and is used to understand how the site is being used and to keep it working correctly.
Information From An Engagement
If you become a client, we collect and hold the financial and personal information required to perform the work you have engaged us for, including tax documents, payroll records, bank and credit card activity, and identification information required by law. That information is governed by the terms of your engagement and by the confidentiality obligations described below, not only by this website policy.
How We Use Information
- To respond to your question, return your call, or schedule a consultation.
- To provide the accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, tax, formation, reporting, and notary services you engage us to perform.
- To prepare and electronically file returns and other required filings on your behalf.
- To send administrative messages about work in progress, deadlines, and documents we need from you.
- To keep records required by federal and Alabama law and by professional standards.
- To operate, secure, maintain, and improve this website.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent, trade, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Cookies And Analytics
This site may use cookies and similar technologies. A cookie is a small text file stored by your browser that helps a site function and helps us understand how visitors use it. We may use analytics services that place cookies to report aggregate statistics, such as the number of visitors, which pages are most viewed, and which sources send traffic. Those reports do not identify you personally to us.
You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when one is being set. Most of this site will continue to work with cookies disabled, though some conveniences, such as remembering form entries, may not.
Client Confidentiality
Information you provide in connection with tax preparation is subject to federal restrictions on the use and disclosure of taxpayer information. We do not disclose that information to anyone outside the firm without your written consent, except where disclosure is required or permitted by law, such as in response to a subpoena, a court order, or a lawful request from a taxing authority. Confidentiality does not end when an engagement ends.
Service Providers
We use third-party software to run the practice, including accounting, payroll, tax preparation, secure file exchange, email, scheduling, and website hosting platforms. These providers process information only as needed to deliver their service to us, and they are bound by their own confidentiality and security obligations. We select providers that maintain reasonable safeguards for the kind of information they handle.
When We Share Information
- With your consent. For example, when you ask us to send financial statements to a lender, a bonding company, or another professional.
- With taxing authorities. When filing returns or corresponding on your behalf, as authorized by you.
- With service providers. As described above, and only to the extent needed to perform the work.
- When required by law. In response to a subpoena, court order, regulatory demand, or other legal process, or to establish or defend legal claims.
How Long We Keep Information
Website inquiries that do not lead to an engagement are retained only as long as needed to respond and to keep a record of the contact. Client records are retained for the periods required by federal and Alabama law, by professional standards, and by our own document retention practice, which in most cases means at least seven years after the relevant filing. Records are securely destroyed at the end of their retention period.
Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the information in our care, including secure document exchange, access controls, and encrypted transmission where available. No method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
Your Choices
- You may ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy of it.
- You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- You may ask us to delete information that we are not required to retain by law or by our engagement with you.
- You may opt out of non-essential email from us at any time by replying and asking to be removed. Messages about active work, filings, and deadlines are part of the service and will continue while an engagement is open.
Send any of these requests to shumphrey@specialized.tax or call (256) 369-9990. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.
Children
This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the site. Information about a minor may appear in a client file, for example as a dependent on a return, and that information is handled with the same confidentiality as the rest of the file.
Links To Other Sites
This site may link to other websites, including a scheduling tool, a review profile, or a software provider. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Their own policies apply once you leave this site.
Changes To This Policy
We may update this policy as the practice, the website, or applicable law changes. The revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
